New Year’s Heating Resolutions

Happy New Year from us here at SWAN Plumbing, Heating & Air of Denver! To help you start this year off on the right heating foot, so to speak, our HVAC pros compiled a list of New Year’s heating resolutions. So, here are some heating hints and tips to help you stay warm this winter without further ado!
And, if you have problems with your heating system, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re always standing by to help you with all your heating needs.
1 – Change Those Dirty Filters!
One of the essential things regarding furnaces is changing your heating system filters every three to six months. If it’s been a while since you last checked yours, why not do so now? It doesn’t take more than a few seconds. First, check your filter box (usually located either under the furnace or on the return side of your ductwork) and see if your filter needs changing. If it looks dirty to your eye, then it’s time. Next, head down to your local hardware store (or you can even get them online at select retailers) and pick up a filter that matches your current one in size. Place the new filter in the same place you removed the old one. Ensure the airflow directional arrow points in the same direction as the removed one (if you forget, it’s the same direction air flows to your heating system).
2 – Schedule A Tune-Up Service With SWAN
Maintenance is vital to the lifespan of any heating system. So, make it a goal to get your furnace tuned up a couple of times this year. During a typical maintenance or tune-up visit, our technicians will:

Inspect your entire unit
Dust and clean your furnace components
Perform a complete system diagnostic
Replace or clean your air filters
Schedule any necessary repairs or part replacements

We also implement a 22-point inspection during our maintenance calls. To learn more about our extensive maintenance services, check out our main furnace maintenance page.
3 – Program Your Thermostat For Winter
One of the most impactful things you can do with your heating system is properly setting your thermostat for the season. Setting your thermostat correctly can help you stay warm without breaking the bank with your energy bills. To learn more about properly setting your thermostat for winter, you can check this energy.gov article on the subject or ask our technicians the next time they’re at your place for a maintenance or repair visit. We’d be happy to program it for you! Call today!
